4. Marketing

We would love to keep you up to date with news, product launches, cycling guides and special offers by email.

  • We will only send you marketing emails where you have agreed (opted in), or where you are an existing customer and we are contacting you about similar products (in which case we rely on the "soft opt-in" permitted under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR)).
  • Our email marketing is managed through Omnisend, which acts as our email service provider.
  • You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing email, or by emailing us at the address in Section 1. Opting out of marketing will not stop service messages relating to orders you have placed.

We will never sell your personal data to third parties for their own marketing.

5. Who we share your personal data with

We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with trusted third parties who help us run our business, and only to the extent necessary. These include:

  • Payment providers — Stripe and PayPal, to process payments securely.
  • Ecommerce and website platform — our website runs on WordPress/WooCommerce and associated hosting and plugin providers.
  • Email marketing — Omnisend, to send newsletters and marketing emails you have opted into.
  • Couriers and delivery partners — to deliver your order (we share your name, address and contact details for delivery only).
  • Analytics and advertising providers — Google (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Site Kit) and social media platforms (Facebook/Meta, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube), to understand how our Website is used and to measure marketing.
  • Professional advisers and service providers — such as our accountants, IT support and legal advisers, where necessary.
  • Regulators, law enforcement and other authorities — where we are legally required to do so, or to protect our rights, property or safety.

Where these third parties process personal data on our behalf, they act as our "data processors" and are bound by contract to keep your data secure and to use it only for the purposes we specify.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

Our Website uses cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels and tags) to make the site work, to remember your preferences, to keep your basket and account working, and to help us understand how the site is used.

Types of cookies we use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Website to function, including your shopping basket, checkout and account login. These do not require your consent.
  • Analytics/performance cookies — such as Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager and Site Kit), which help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
  • Functionality cookies — which remember choices you make, such as language or region.
  • Marketing/advertising cookies — set by us or by social and advertising platforms to measure and improve our marketing.

Non-essential cookies (analytics, functionality and marketing) are only set with your consent. When you first visit the Website, you will be shown a cookie banner where you can accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your preferences at any time via the cookie settings on our Website, or by adjusting your browser settings to refuse or delete cookies. Please note that blocking some cookies may affect how the Website works.

For more information about cookies and how to manage them, visit www.aboutcookies.org or ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies.

7. International data transfers

Some of our third-party providers (for example Google, Stripe, PayPal and Omnisend) are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where your personal data is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as:

  • transfers to countries the UK Government has deemed to provide an adequate level of protection; or
  • the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses; or
  • the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified.

You can ask us for more information about the safeguards we use by contacting us using the details in Section 1.

8. How long we keep your personal data

We keep your personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, including to satisfy any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.

  • Order and transaction records are generally kept for 6 years after the end of the relevant tax year, to meet HMRC and accounting obligations.
  • Account information is kept while your account remains active. You can ask us to close your account at any time.
  • Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent, after which we retain a minimal record of your opt-out to make sure we respect your choice.
  • Enquiries and correspondence are generally kept for up to 2 years after your query is resolved, unless there is a reason to keep them longer.

When we no longer need your personal data, we securely delete or anonymise it.

9. How we keep your personal data secure

We take the security of your personal data seriously and use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. These measures include secure (SSL/TLS encrypted) connections on our Website, restricted access to personal data, and using reputable providers for payments and hosting.

While we do our best to protect your personal data, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  • The right of access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to rectification — to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
  • The right to erasure — to ask us to delete your personal data in certain circumstances (the "right to be forgotten").
  • The right to restrict processing — to ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
  • The right to data portability — to receive certain data in a structured, commonly used format, or to have it transferred to another provider.
  • The right to object — to object to our processing where we rely on legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time.
  • Rights relating to automated decision-making and profiling — we do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing.
  • The right to withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 1. We will respond within one month. Exercising your rights is free of charge, although we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse a request that is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.

11. Children's privacy

Our products are designed for children, but our Website and services are intended for use by adults (parents, guardians and carers). We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with their personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Third-party websites

Our Website may contain links to other websites, including retailers, social media platforms and cycling resources. This policy applies only to our Website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements or for other reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may be notified to you by email or a notice on our Website.
