Laufräder
Balance bikes help children master steering and balance before pedalling — most kids move to a pedal bike by age four without needing stabilisers. This range includes lightweight models with step-through frames, air tyres, and quick-adjust seats that fit 18 months to 5 years.

Balance Bikes That Build Confidence Fast
Choosing the Right Size
Seat height matters more than wheel size. Younger riders (18 months to 3 years) need seats that adjust from 38cm to 48cm. Older kids (3 to 5 years) suit seats that go up to 52cm. Both feet should touch the ground flat when seated — this lets them push off and stop safely.
Quick-release clamps make it easy to adjust as they grow. Most models fit two or three years of use before they outgrow the frame.
Weight and Build Quality
Lighter bikes are easier for small children to handle and steer. Models around 4.5kg work well for toddlers who are still building strength. Look for powder-coated frames — they handle scrapes and weather without chipping.
Step-through frames let kids get on and off without lifting their leg high. Soft grips and padded seats keep hands and bottoms comfortable during longer rides.
Brakes and Tyres
Rear band brakes with easy-touch levers suit older kids who are ready to learn braking. Younger riders usually stop by dragging their feet, so brakes are optional at first.
Air tyres give better grip and a smoother ride on grass, gravel, or bumpy paths. They need the odd top-up but handle outdoor play better than solid tyres.
Pair a balance bike with our helmets and safety gear for confident first rides. Once they’ve mastered balance, a centre-mounted bike seat lets you take family rides together before they move to their own pedal bike.
